Burscheid and Wermelskirchen are neighbouring towns in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district. The foundation stone for inter-municipal cooperation between the two towns was laid by the Burscheid/Wermelskirchen 2030 inter-municipal development and action plan. This gave rise to the idea of supporting the cultural landscapes of both cities through inter-municipal cultural management and the associated creation of a joint cultural development plan (CDP). This was completed in 2023 and was made possible with the help of the “RKP – Regional Culture Programme NRW2” funding from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, the Rheinisch-Bergisch district supported the cities, which contributed their own funding.
